# Exact units

> Integer lots, ticks and quote atoms—not floating-point money.

[Market metadata](/api/reads/markets) supplies configured unit, quote unit and exact rational conversion: signed fill value = lots × ticks × numerator / denominator in quote atoms. Whole-fill conversion must satisfy the governed exactness rules. Never infer Pacifica/display decimals from the precision-version number.

Remaining basis is signed entry value, not display average price. Cash excludes unsettled funding; account equity, free margin and immediately payable funds differ.

The wire uses big-endian integers with checked range/length decoding. SDK numeric quantities are bigint; do not round-trip them through JavaScript Number or JSON number. Example amounts are normalized fixtures, not production policy.
